The first annual Magnetic Music Festival was held at the awesome new Kennesaw Sports and Rec. Park right outside Atlanta, GA. The festival contained tons of top notch performances with beautiful people and art all over the grounds.

The main stage was inside the football/soccer stadium and the second stage, which was just as wild as the main, was right outside on an adjacent practice field. A smaller third stage was also introduced that contained some up and coming local acts and seemed to carry it's weight all day along with the others. Some personal highlights of the day were Flosstradamus, Adventure Club, Dash Berlin, Sorted, and Flux Pavilion.

Overall this was a great first year festival and I can't wait to catch it's return next year for 2 days! (April 18th and 19th, 2014) Here's a few of my shots from the fest:

Nothing better than meeting a couple of great friends for an engagement shoot and everything simply going your way! Eric, Whitney and their golden pup Murray pulled up right when the sunrise happened to be showing off it's best in the form of a soft, early-morning, orange light that couldn't be recreated if we tried. The beautiful sunrise was also accompanied by some just right temps and a light layer of dew atop the grass, both enhancing the outcome of our photos in just the right way.

After snagging some pretty magical shots with the sunrise, we ventured around the park a little more, making stops at a couple park benches, pond-side spots, and angles with the city skyline in the background. Murray stayed in the car after his shining moments with the sunrise were over, but Whitney and Eric continued to be great subjects that anyone around them could just feel the love. These two were perfect at just relaxing and being their natural selves during our shoot. I think it really comes through in these photos as I'm really excited to share this shoot on the blog! Slightly embarrassed to admit but, the reason I was so excited for BUKU was because I had never been to the city of New Orleans before, but always heard how much I would love it! Plus we had the whole aLIVE Media team getting back together and when ever that happens we always end up having a blast and get lots of amazing coverage. 

The festival was located along side a pier and group of warehouses called "Mardi Gras World" pretty much inside downtown New Orleans. The main stage was waterside with a really cool old power plant in the background that came out awesome in pictures. Then the ballroom stage and float den stage were in extremely close proximity and both good sizes. And I can't forget the smaller, fourth stage that was inside the SS BUKU, an enormous paddle boat that was docked at the festival all weekend and had viewing access to the main stage! This was one of the coolest festival features I've ever seen.

With acts such as Calvin Harris, STS9, Lettuce, Alt-J, Major Lazer, Kendrick Lamar, Flying Lotus and much more, those two days were seriously packed full of great performances. I literally had to run from stage to stage to try and catch as many acts as I could. The weather, temperatures and vibes were all just right that weekend and I believe it comes through in the images I was able to capture. Here is just a small collection from an awesome festival!

I was very excited and honored when commissioned by one of my favorite rising bands, Papadosio, to come out and capture their Valenties Day show at the Georgia Theatre in Athens, GA.  In 2012 the band released an incredible double-disc album entitled T.E.T.I.O.S. (To End the Illusion of Seperation) and it honestly didn't leave my car's cd player or ipod playlist for a very long time.

All the band members are very much on the same page and in complete unision in both their studio work and especially at their live performances. Their show in Athens was no different and even had a ton of additinal lighting and stage accents added to an already amazing performance. Really glad I was able to capture some of the energy in the room that night and give the guys some solid images for their website and promo use. With the recent increase in new jobs and clients gained over the past 6 or so months, photography sometimes seemed more like a task full of deadlines, emails, meetings and late nights of post-shoot work then previously. With all that combined together it was sometimes easy to get stressed and lose sight of why I am in the field in the first place...Because I love it!

So the other day I jumped up from my work, grabbed a camera body, one lens and just hit the street for a few hours of exploring. Living in Atlanta, I've always enjoyed the art scene, city-scapes and what both local and international artists can contribute to the our city.

First is an amazing piece by European street artist "ROA" located right in the center of downtown almost near the Georgia Dome. I'd been keeping an eye open for this one around the city for almost a year, so was very pleased when finally finding it. Second is another amazing piece by local ATL artist "Peter Ferrari" aka PLF. PLF is easily one of my favorites, with great work literally all over the city.

Back to the bottom line of this post... which is to never forget just to have fun with it! I'm incredibly lucky to get to follow my passion and combine it into a career but balance is everything. Now check out these amazing wall-mural pieces by ROA and PLF!

The girls over at Lassiter High School in Marietta, GA reached out to me simply because they wanted something outside the typical team photo and the freedom do be themselves in a photo they could keep for the rest of their lives. After reviewing a few ideas and locations we decided to meet right as the sun was coming up on a chilly pre-season morning but as you can tell not too much affects these awesome girls. Here's a couple shots from our team shoot!

For New Year's Eve 2012 we gathered the crew back together and headed to Dallas, Texas to shoot the largest NYE music festival in the world, "Lights All Night." Lasting three days (Dec 29th, 30th and 31st) this festival contained some of the largest names in the music industry. To name a few: Bassnectar, Diplo, Tiesto, Calvin Harris, Baauer, Zedd, A-Trak, 12th Planet and a bunch more... The location was approx 2 miles from downtown Dallas in an awesome historic fair grounds still within view of the skyline buildings. The main stage was located in an enormous tent with smaller stages in near by hanger structures. I also really enjoyed walking around the super clean streets of downtown Dallas and dodging the DART street cars before heading into the festival each day! I can't possibly fit everything into one blog post from these three nights but here's some highlights for you to get an idea what it was like.

***UPDATE*** (Multiple features in "DJ Mag's" NYE 2012 Review)

Early this year iWP has been working with a local restaurant in the re-branding process of their image, menu, website and more. This process has started out with two in-location food shoots of menu items all across the board. We shot everything from soups & salads to BBQ & slaw with a bunch of other sandwiches in between and even some tacos by the end. Honestly the hardest part of this whole process was trying to edit the images with out stopping to eat one of the awesome sandwiches we were sent home with!

STS9 opted for 2 fall nights at the Fabulous Fox Theater this year instead of returning for another NYE run at the Tabby. Personally I was not mad about this since I have always wanted to see and shoot this band in this venue. I didn't even realize when first signing up for the job that this was the first time I had shot professionally in the Fox Theater and there was so much I wanted to capture! I knew I had to get a lens wide enough to catch the blue sky and star lit ceiling while also catching the amazing architecture all through out the building. STS9 came perpared too with their "Great Cycle Spectacles" tour rig and stage set up. Check out my Top 20 photos from these 2 nights in late October right here in a slideshow format.
